From time to time, I enjoy focusing in on a particular composer, particular collection of songs, or a particular period. This year, we are focusing on ‘24 Lyric Preludes in Different Keys’ by William Gillock. Many people overlook Gillock’s compositions in favor of older composers but to me his harmonies are so rich and beautiful. I have been hooked to his tunes from the first time I heard them. In the spirit of Gillock, I decided to record the whole book both for myself and for my students; Take a listen!

For our 2013 Holiday Recital I wanted to make it special and motivational for my students. One morning, the idea just cam to me: I would compose a separate song for each kid. While writing out the music, I took into consideration each student’s personality and musical style. This turned out to be the best Christmas Recital I ever had.
